Cottonwood Court

The original courtyard at this lovely ranch home was previously enclosed by a brick wall and the space was hot, dry and uninviting. The entire courtyard area and entry walk were demolished and redesigned to create a warm welcome to the front entrance and a delightful outdoor room, suitable for a singular coffee or a small gathering of friends. The homeowner selected several large boulders to integrate into the perimeter of the new, concrete terrace. A 'just-right' boulder was fitted with a pump and bubbler so the soothing sight and sound of splashing water is a constant presence. The brick wall adjacent to the front door features a custom-designed, steel trellis that will be softened by English Ivy within a year or two. Plant materials are drought-tolerant, colorful and provide interest year-round.
