Disney Development Company requested Mozley Company, Inc. and William Cox, Architect to develop multiple ‘horizontal’ hotel concepts for property lying between The Magic Kingdom and Epcot attractions in Orlando, FL (USA). The concepts involved 3000 lodging units with an array of support functions, distributed over 200 acres in a themed, village setting. Initial schemes juxtaposed a medieval Elizabethan village with an early American Rivertown featuring Barge House accommodations. Subsequent studies centered on a frontier settlement “Homestead Town” and the corresponding Connestoga Wagon Homes. All iterations included commercial, event and recreational facilities.
